Costa Rica encompasses 6 birding regions or ecozones, and numerous microecosystems within them, where birds and wildlife are on display in their natural habitat, keep in mind that the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) protects 25% of our territory. More than 900 bird species are found in the country, so whether in cloud forest, humid lowlands, wetlands, rainforest, highlands, dry forest or marine ecosystems, birds are abundant and easily accessible to visitors.

Best time: It is possible to have amazing birding during the whole year, however the fall (September-November) when 200 + bird species of North America travel southwards to Central and South America to spend the winter, and February to May (Spring) when they return to their breeding grounds, are the top months, these are the best periods for a higher number of resident and migratory birds.
